Throughout his lifetime Grand Master Hwang, Ho Soo had the opportunity to train in several martial arts under the tutaledge of some of the great Grand Masters of modern times. Born in Korea to a martial art family - his father and older brother were Judo Masters, and his eldest brother was an Aikido Master - Grand Master Hwang started training as a young boy. He studied Tang Soo Do under Grand Master Hwang, Kee - founder of the Tang Soo Do Moo Do Kwan and received his Master rank. When he was 11 years old he started training in the art of Hapkido and became a favorite student of Grand Master Choi, Yong Sul - founder of Hapkido and the Hapki Yu Kwon Sul and received his Master rank directly from Grand Master Choi as well. Through the direct authority given to him by Grand Master Choi, he started the US Hapkido Association here in the United States. He is a graduate of the Korean Yudo College with a Master rank in Judo directly under Dr. Lee, who in the early 1970's founded Yong In University.
In the mid-1990's, Grand Master Hwang and several of his Master students began the arduous task of bringing the best of their training in multiple martial arts into the development of Dae Han Moo Do. The art was designed to incorporate the best techniques from the throws in Judo, grappling techniques of Hapkido, and kicking and punching of Tang Soo Do and Taekwondo. After several years of hard work Dae Han Moo Do was born and remains to this day a very advanced martial art practiced in many schools throughout the United States
